Though Kerala leads the country in total literacy, the state is not fully literate in terms of social security, enviornmental issues and legal awareness. That is why in addition to literacy through words, Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority now give due thrust on sector specific literacy campaigns for social oriented literacy programmes.

• Literacy Programme for migrant labourers (Changathi).
• Enviornmental Literacy Project.
• Continuing Education programme for Transgenders.
