Vimala Bhai and Seema Mandal from Assam weaved their names into history when they wrote down a Malayalam alphabet making them the first participants of the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority’s (KSLMA) model migrant literacy project, which was launched at Perumbavoor.
They were among the 432 migrant ‘students,’ majority of them from Assam, who turned up for the ‘Praveshanolsavam’ of KSLMA’s ambitious literacy project by the name ‘Changathi’.
Minister for Education C. Ravindranath inaugurated the ‘Praveshanolsavam’ and released the textbook, Hamari Malayalam, brought out by the KSMLA. Eldhose Kunnappilly, MLA, presided.
