Age is just a number and this 96-year-old woman from Kerala has proved it by passing her district’s 4th standard equivalency exam under the Kerala Literacy Mission Aksharalaksham scheme. In the process, she has become the role model for thousands of people, including the chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra.Karthyayini Amma is a resident of Alappuzha who enrolled with the literacy programme in January this year. “The nonagenarian was writing the 4th standard equivalency course under the Kerala Literacy Mission’s Aksharalaksham scheme,” The News Minute reported.However, Karthyayini, who has become an inspirational figure for thousands in the country, was a tad disappointed with her performance. “She was unhappy that the question paper did not ask everything she studied. She feels she studied too much for no reason,” Sathi, her teacher-coordinator was quoted.“Now if this is true she is my role model. My brains will stay alive if I stay as hungry to learn as she is,” tweeted Anand Mahindra after he was tagged by several users on the micro-blogging site, alerting him about the ‘Wonder Woman’ who had managed to pass the exam with flying colours.
